Ship Design

The work continous..

Last summer of 2008, I worked with two good friends on rethinking cruise ship design together with Viking Line, this turned out very well so this work continous and soon you will hopefully be discovering new experiences of travelling with cruise ships..

Since this work is going on behind locked doors, the result will hopefully possible to experience in a near future.

We have now announced the winner of the Idesign Award 2009!

Nils-Johan Eriksson from Umeå Institute of design received 10.000 SEK for his project targeting medical equipment for commercial flights.
The Idesign Design Award aims to encourage students that utilize design with a great sense of humanity and social response. Criteria for our assessment are innovation, aesthetics and benefits for the end-user.
This year’s winner of the Idesign prize has proved how a designer can make best use of a keen and respondent mindset, excellent skills of collaboration paired with a structured and well-planned process that include all aspects of design.
The winner embraces the importance of understanding the whole where he managed to execute his insights in a sensible and profound way.

Renderings of final concept

Collaboration: Umbilical Design, SAS

Almost 2 billion passengers travel by commercial aviation annualy. Every day there are 22 to 33 medical incidents, and the frequency of these incidents are increasing due to an older population. Operating in an emergency treatment inflight is hard because of the limitations of space and equipment. This is a concept of an emergency medical kit that meets the needs to operate in these incidents and therefore improves the preconditions for life and death situations.

The basic idea is not only to provide a good overview to identify the contents on an in-flight emergency but also making it easier on logistic matters of managing medicines and other components.

Examination

Finally, the presentation of my degree project is done and it went very well. Just some minor adjustments on the final documents!

My final project is about emergency medical kits on commercial airplanes, more pictures and info coming up soon.
